Why is the London Review of Books putting out records? Read more about this project on the LRB blog.
Volume 2 contains only one poem, which extends over three records: a new recording of the 112 quatrains of Tony Harrison’s ‘v.’, first published in the LRB in January 1985. Maxine Peake read it in Highgate Cemetery, on the path leading up to Christina Rosetti’s grave, on a cold bright day a few weeks before the 40th anniversary of the poem’s publication. Tony Harrison died on 26 September 2025. We are grateful to him and his family for permission both to make the recording in the first place, and release it now.
A handmade box-set containing three 7-inch singles and an accompanying 32-page photographic booklet in a numbered, limited edition of just 360.
Will be shipped from 20 February.
Volume 3 will be released in the spring. Volume 1 is available here.
